Chushinara, yet another great Samurai warrior, drew his 40" Katana from it's protective sheath and admired the exquisite lines inherent in the design of his weapon. He really didn't like to speak of it in such terms as "his weapon". It was so more than a weapon to him. It was part of his life; almost a natural growth from his body..
He spent so much time handling it, practicing with it and making sure that it was always remarkably sharp, that he thought of it as being so much more than just a piece of handcrafted metal. It was exactly as another part of his body but with muscle and power superior to his arm or hand or even his body as a whole. With his katana always in his presence he drew the respect and admiration of all that were around him.
When in action, there was nothing more satisfying or natural to him than to lash out defensively at those that would dare try to harm him or his lord. The katana with it's bright red color and black accents drew attention to him in battles and he just loved that his enemies would be drawn to him simply to be vanquished with several precise strokes from his katana.

The large Katana measures 40" overall with the sword coming in at 37" with an actual blade length of about 26". The 1" wide blade is 3/16" thick and fairly sharp as delivered. If you prefer your swords razor sharp you can do that, too. The wakizashi is 31" overall in it's scabbard and the 27 3/4" sword has an 18" blade. The tanto is 21 3/4" overall while the 18 1/2" sword boasts a 10 1/2" blade.

The composition of the sword blades vary from piece to piece. Some of the blades are made of high strength carbon steel and others of the finest 440 Stainless Steel.
In order to protect the finish of the steel blades most are covered with a very light film of protective oil. We suggest that you do the same with your sword whether it is used strictly for show and display or if you are taking it outside and having fun with it. The Stainless Steel swords naturally do not need this light coating of oil.
By the way, all of the three piece sword sets do come with a very nice display stand at no extra charge.
Please be aware that these are real swords and certainly not toys. While some swords come from us sharper than others, all of them carry an edge when they arrive at your home. When not used properly it is very easy to harm yourself or someone else. As a consequence of this we will not sell anything on this site or in our store to minors.
