Designed in the tradition of Japanese swordsmiths by Steve Corkum, this modern interpretation offers utility, plus a cord-wrapped handle with black ray skin underlay. The LONG AWAITED and HARD TO FIND Corkum First Strike. This a a great all around carrier! A production run of the Custom 1st strike that sells for over $450.00! 4.50 in. AUS 6M steel blade. The handle is traditional Japanese cord wrap, resin impregnated, with black ray skin underlays. 9.25 in. overall length. Injection molded Zytel sheath with removable belt clip included. The blade shape is a combination of the ancient chokuto straight sword and the classic mohora-zukuri double edge tanto. The grind is what Steve calls a convex zero edge, or appleseed cross section, resulting in an edge that is much stronger than taper or hollow grinds. The massive 0.19” blade thickness continues through the tapered full tang, resulting in incredible strength from tip to butt. The striking handle is a traditional Japanese cord wrap, resin impregnated, with black ray skin underlays. Combined with the butt pommel, it provides an amazing level of grip. We have designed a custom injection molded Zytel® sheath for the First Strike. It firmly grips the knife, left or right, and has a removable belt clip plus multiple slots and holes allowing almost infinite carry options on belts, clothing or gear. Columbia River Corkum First Strike Specifications: Blade: Cutting edge: 4.50” (11.4 cm) Thickness: 0.19” (0.50 cm) Steel: AUS 6M, 55-57 HRC Knife: Overall length: 9.25” (23.5 cm) Weight: 6.4 oz.
